My Life As A Trashcan on Jigsaw Records

Our new EP ‘My Life As A Trashcan’ is available now from Jigsaw Records (jigsaw-records.com). It’s our longest EP so far with 8 songs at around 18 and a half minutes and was recorded/mastered by Patrick Crane/ DC at Thousand Island Pizza. Two songs from the EP can be heard via our soundcloud account:

Here’s an excerpt of a review from the blog ‘A Layer Of Chips’:

‘There’s a dark edge that runs throughout, especially on tracks such as ‘Thank Constantine’, but it’s on songs like ‘Starstruck and Forever’, which sounds like The Wedding Present’s underrated late 90s stuff, that Amida really hit the mark. The sneering delivery makes it all so deliciously defiant, which, together with everything else, makes this record really quite precious.’

  1. My Life As A Trashcan
  2. A New Low
  3. I Was Rude, You Were Fast
  4. Thank Constantine
  5. Starstruck Forever And Ever
  6. Let Me Do This For You
  7. They Breathe Gas For Air So We Lit A Match
  8. Reversal Of Fortune

Indie Pop Days

In August we went to Berlin to play a festival called Indie Pop Days:

Indie Pop Days

We had a lovely time, thanks to all the bands and people involved in the festival for making it happen.

There are some photo’s here

And an interview we did with a webzine called Berlin Beat

We had an AMAZING time in New York. There were lots of highlights but here are a few of my favourites:

Playing with Pains of Being Pure at Heart/ Sea Lions at Cake Shop - managing to break 3 guitars before we’d even played a song, meeting lots of nice people and eating the best taco’s ever!

Seeing lots of great bands (especially Go Sailor, the Motifs, Betty and the Werewolves and Panda Riot) and discovering how to find our way (or not) on the subway to the various Popfest locations.

Going to Coney Island in the sunshine.

Incredible pizza.

Finding some cool vintage shops in Williamsburg.

Being rained on and drinking coffee in Greenwich Village.

Getting vertigo at the MOMA.

Discovering the importance of good shoes.

Did Not Chart

Here’s an excerpt from a review of our new EP:

‘Amida have come up with their best songs yet on new ep The Spite House Plot. Fans of The Aislers Set’s snappy pop with deliciously tart lyrics Siddeleys style (“I talked to god and my ex-girlfriend/At least one of them lied”) will love Oleander; fans of This Poison!’s furious jangle played at 100mph will find their needs met in Victor Spoils; and anyone missing the bouncing bass lines of Bob should head straight to A Month Of Sundays.’
